Background
Quick Publish allows you to speed up the process of creating an assignment and make it available on the assessmentQ portal or with access codes.
Quick Publish allows you to make items available to your end users from within the assessmentQ item bank, without having to go to other modules such as Assignments, Scheduling or Access codes.
With the Quick publish feature, you can:
- create a draft assignment from a folder (identical to right-clicking on a folder in Edumatic and choosing Publish).
- create a validated assignment and schedule it on the portal for your users.
- create a validated assignment and generate access codes for it.
When this concerns an exam assignment, you can also start it in Safe Exam Browser. This is not possible for exercise assignments.
Using Quick publish
Proceed as follows to use the Quick publish feature:
- Click on the three dots next to the folder you want to publish.
- Click on Quick publish.
Result: A dialog window with a wizard appears. The wizard will guide you through the Quick Publish process. - In the step Goal, choose what you want to do.
Note: If you don't see all available options, you may not have all the required permissions. For more information, see Roles and Permissions related to Quick Publish below.
Result: You go to the next step Settings.
- In the step Settings, determine the settings of the assignment you'll create and click on Next.
Notes:
- The name of the assignment will be shown to your users in the assessmentQ player.
- When you create an exam assignment, the Security step will become active.
Result: If you create a draft assignment, you proceed immediately to the Security step in the case of an exam assignment or to the Overview step in the case of an exercise assignment. Otherwise, proceed to the Timing step.
- In the step timing, determine when the assignment should be available for your end users and click Next.
- If you are scheduling an assignment on the portal, enter the start and end dates between which the assignment will be accessible to your users via the portal.
- If you generate access codes, you can optionally enter start and end dates between which the access codes can be used.
- If you are scheduling an assignment on the portal, enter the start and end dates between which the assignment will be accessible to your users via the portal.
- In the step Participants, determine for whom the assignment should be available (individuals or groups) and click Next.
Result:- If you chose an exam assignment in the Settings step, the Security step appears.
- If you chose a exercise assignment in the Settings step, the Overview step appears.
- In the step Overview, you will get an overview of what will happen as a result of your Quick Publish action. Click Save on the bottom right to finish.
Result: The dialog window will close and a confirmation message will appear.
Limitations of Quick publish
With Quick Publish, backoffice users that have the required permissions can deliver content from within the item bank. In this way, the basic workflow (from creating items to publishing them) is fully supported from the assessmentQ item bank.
Because this is a Quick Publish, you do not have all the options available that you would have in the corresponding assessmentQ modules, only the most important ones.
In Quick Publish, you cannot:
- Add a time limit for a part.
- Override assignment template settings.
- Change the order of parts or items in an assignment.
- Add or remove parts.
- Define different minimum scores per part (all parts have the same minimum score).
- Publish the results for a schedule on the participants' portal.
- Send notification emails for a schedule.
- Add more than one assignment to a schedule.
- Add a fixed end time to the access codes.
- Publish the items in alphabetical order.
All of these options remain possible in the corresponding assessmentQ modules.
Roles and permissions related to Quick Publish
As a user of the assessmentQ backoffice, you may not necessarily see all the options of quick publication: what you can do depends on your role.

Notes:
- If you want to allow an Author to create schedules on the assessmentQ portal, he needs to get the Coach role as well.
- If you want a Coach to use quick Publish, he needs to get the Author role as well to get access to the item bank.
- If you want a user with the Coach role to be able to generate access codes as well, and thus be able to use all possibilities of Quick Publish, contact Support (support@televic-education.com) so we can enable the permission to create access codes for the Coach role.
