Background
Oral exams are taken using access codes. When organising an oral exam, you need to distribute the codes to the participants. The participants can start their exam by entering the code.
At the start of the exam, the participants have to go through a device check first. They should only continue their exam if the device check has passed successfully.
For each oral item in the exam, screen and webcam recordings are made so that the participant's answer to the oral item is fully recorded.
Note: The Oral exam is a closed beta feature. If you are interested in organising oral exams, contact Televic Education via support@televic-education.com.
System requirements for oral exams
For the system requirements for oral exams, we refer to the assessmentQ system requirements. More information.
Special points of attention for oral exams:
- Latest version of supported operating system, including updated drivers.
- It is strongly advised to use external microphones for oral exams. Make sure the external microphone is selected as input device.
- Verify the network requirements for oral exams. More information.
Device check
To avoid any technical interruptions during an oral exam and to ensure accurate recordings of the participant's answers, it is essential to verify that the participant's browser grants all necessary permissions.
Therefore, at the onset of an oral exam, participants will be prompted to grant access to their microphone, webcam and their screen.
It is highly recommended that participants verify the microphone recording before continuing with the exam:
- Click on Test your microphone.
- Verify the recording.
Oral item in the player
After completing the device check, the exam is opened in the assessmentQ player.
As soon as the participants navigate to an oral item, they will see a red border around their webcam screen and a icon indicating that their answer is being recorded.
The participants cannot pause or stop the recording. The recording will stop automatically:
- either when the participants navigate themselves to the next item (in the case of linear navigation without time limits on the items)
- or when the time limit of the item has expired (in the case of linear navigation with time limits on the items)
The participants can only navigate forward in an oral exam. They cannot navigate back to the recording of a previous answer.
Note: The live grader will see the entire recording of the participant's exam.
