Background
The item type Image matrix consists of one or more multiple choice questions arranged in rows. The specificity of this item type is that the answer options are images.
The participant must select the correct answer (i.e. image) for each row.
Procedure
Proceed as follows to create an Image matrix:
- Go to Authoring > Items.
- Go to the folder in which you want to add your item.
- Click on to add an item.
- Select Image matrix.
Result: The content pane of the item is opened. - Enter the item name in the breadcrumb at the top.
- Click in the content block and fill in your instruction.
- Select + Add block if you want to add additional content blocks.
- Complete your matrix in the answer block:
- By default, 2 rows and 2 columns are available. Click + Row or + Column to add an extra row or an extra column. You can add a maximum of 10 rows and 10 columns. To delete a row or a column, click .
- Add the question(s) in the heading cell(s) at the left of the row(s):
- Click in the heading of the row.
Result: The editor toolbar is shown. - Add the question by inserting text and/or an image.
- Repeat these steps until you have added all your questions.
- Click in the heading of the row.
- Add the images for the answer options in the matrix cells.
- Click in the matrix cell of your choice.
Result: The Image tab is opened. - In the Image tab, browse to and upload your image.
- Repeat these steps until you have added all the answer options.
- Click in the matrix cell of your choice.
- Select the correct answer in each row.
Notes: The layout of the Image matrix cannot be changed:
- The radio buttons are always top-center aligned in the matrix cells.
- The content of the matrix rows (i.e. the questions and the answers) is always top-aligned.
- The content of each matrix row is always displayed on one line. When the screen is too small, the participant will see a horizontal scrollbar.
- The borders of the rows and columns are always shown.
- Click Preview to try out your item.
