Editing the player template of a publication

Background

As an author, you can set the Edumatic player for a publication. Examples of player settings are Navigation mode, Randomize items, Alert messages, etc.

Player settings for a publication are defined in the player template. Edumatic provides the following default player templates:

  • A Test player template for assessments.
    When the test player template is used, the correction and solution buttons are not shown in the Edumatic player. This template is automatically selected when you create an assessment.
  • An Exercise player template for practice publications.
    When the exercise player template is used, the correction and solution buttons are shown in the Edumatic player. This template is automatically selected when you create a practice publication.
  • A default Review player template showing the user’s answers only.

For both assessments and practice publications, you can manually overrule the following default Player template settings:

  • Settings on a publication level

    Tip: Under Interface language you can select the language for a publication. You can choose between:

    • The user language, i.e. the language you find in the user account settings.
      This is the default setting.
    • The publication language, i.e. the language as defined in the publication properties.
    • Dutch,French, German, English, Italian and Spanish
  • Settings on item level
    • General settings for all exercise types
    • Generel setting for specific item types

  • Look and feel
    • In this tab you can choose to show a content overview (left or right) to users by checking Show folder legend.
  • On finish
    • In this tab you can set what happens with the player when the user finishes the exercise.
  • Customize titles, help & alerts
    • In this tab you can add and customize titles, help & alerts.

    Tip: By default a standard placeholder is used for the item names in the Edumatic player. If you want to show the item name, edit the field name and type {itemname}.

Procedure

Proceed as follows to the edit player template of a publication:

  1. In the Publications module, select In creation or To validate.
  2. Click Edit  in the rightmost column next to the publication you want to edit.
  3. Select the Player template tab.
    • If you want to change the player template to one of the default player templates or select player template you saved:
      1. Click Select player template.
      2. In the Select player template window, select the template of your choice and click Ok.
    • if you want to adapt the player template for this publication only.
      • Select one of the following tabs and set the player template to your needs.
  4. Click Save
