About example items
Example items are commonly used to allow users to become familiar with certain item types in an assignment. Their score is not taken into account for the user's total score, and they can have a separate time limit from the rest of the assignment.
Example items are always displayed first in an assignment.
When creating an assignment, you can turn certain items into example items, or turn example items into regular items again.
Procedure: turning an item into an example item
Proceed as follows to turn an item into an example item::
- On the Items tab of the assignment, click the three dots next to an item.
- Select Change to example item.
Result: The item gets the icon of an example item, and moves to the top of the part. If the item was part of a folder, it will be moved outside of the folder and become the first item in the part.
Procedure: turning an example item into a regular item
Proceed as follows to turn an example item into a regular item again:
- On the Items tab of the assignment, click the three dots next to an item.
- Select Change to regular item.
Result: The item gets the icon of the item type again. Its position will not change, so if you want to change its order in the part, you will have to change the order manually.
