Background
Sometimes, you may not want to let the participants navigate between the items and/or parts themselves. For this, you can use automatic navigation between the items and/or parts. This option ensures that the transition between items and/or parts is done automatically when the time limit on the level of the item and/or the part has expired.
Procedure
Proceed as follows to enable automatic navigation between items:
- Add a time limit on item level: Adding a time limit to an item
- Create an assignment of your items: Creating a new assignment
- Select your assignment and go to the Behavior tab, then select Modify settings.
Result: The settings of the assignment template become visible. -
Select the Navigation tab and enable the option Automatic navigation.
Result: the user will automatically navigate to the next item when the time limit has expired on item level. When the time limit has not expired yet, the user cannot navigate by himself either.
Proceed as follows to enable automatic navigation between parts:
- Add a time limit on the part level of an assignment: Changing the properties of a part
- Select your assignment and go to the Behavior tab, then select Modify settings.
Result: The settings of the assignment template become visible. - Select the Navigation tab and enable the option Free navigation within parts
- Disable the option Show an overview of all parts in between parts.
Result: The user will never see the overview of the parts after a part was finished. - If you don't want users to finish a part before the time limit on the part has expired, disable the Finish button in the Buttons and labels tab.
Result: The user can't finish a part or the assignment. The next part automatically opens after the time limit of the previous part has expired. The assignment automatically ends when the last part is completed.
