Dropdown in text
Dropdown in text in assessmentQ has a number of new options:
- When you create a new text dropdown, an empty answer will appear as the default option. You no longer need to add an empty answer: it is always there by default, but you can delete it if you wish.
- You can select the initial value to be displayed in the dropdown. By default, the starting value is the empty answer, but you can change it if you want.
- You can choose to show all options in the dropdown in any order (except for the blank answer) or not. By default, they are not shown in random order.
- You can change a text dropdown to a/an:
- Information page
- Multiple choice
- Multiple response
- Fill gaps in text
- Drag and drop in text
Drag and drop in columns
New options in Drag and drop in columns:
- You can adapt the width of the columns. This way you can better control the look and feel in the assessmentQ player.
- You can change a Drag and drop in columns to a/an:
- Information page
- Order vertically
- Matching
Order vertically
New options in Order vertically:
- You can adapt the width of the columns. This way you can better control the look and feel in the assessmentQ player.
- You can change an Order vertically to a/an:
- Information page
- Matching
- Drag and drop in columns
The option to lock the first column is no longer available in this item type. Items of the type Vertical ordering where the first column is fixed have been converted to the new item type Connect in assessmentQ.
Matching
In assessmentQ 1.2 we introduce a new item type: Matching. In this exercise type, the user has to arrange (match) the elements in a column according to the corresponding item in the first column where the order of elements is fixed.
The item type matching has the same options as Order vertically:
- You can adapt the width of the columns. This way you can better control the look and feel in the assessmentQ player.
- You can change a Matching to a/an:
- Information page
- Matching
- Drag and drop in columns
Display of metadata in the item overview
As an author, you can adapt the overview table of the items to your needs. In assessmentQ 1.2 you can now also add metadata to this table.
This way, you can check if all of the metadata is added correctly to your items:
Remembering your search results in the itembank
When you perform a search and click on one of the search results, you can now always go back to your search results by clicking on Search results on the breadcrumb.
Remembering your location in the itembank
From assessmentQ 1.2 on, your current location in the database is remembered: when you work on an item and open another module (e.g. My Account) and then go back to the database, you will be redirected to the item you were working on, just like in Edumatic. This way, you don't have to search for the item you were working on anymore.
Optimizations for the recycle bin
In assessmentQ 1.2, the operation of the recycle bin has been fundamentally changed and improved. This results in a number of new possibilities:
- As an author, you now have your own recycle bin, in which you can see the items you have removed.
- You can search for items in the recycle bin.
- You can easily restore items from the recycle bin to any folder in the item bank.
- When you restore an entire folder, all items in that folder will also be restored (as in Windows).
- The technical adjustment in the background provides a reliable way to delete and restore items, thus increasing the robustness of assessmentQ.
The new recycle bin is only available in the assessmentQ backoffice.
Consistency in the user interface for adding possible answers
We strive for consistency in the user interface to simplify working in the assessmentQ back office for the authors. Therefore, we have adapted the user interface to add answers in Text Entries. The current approach is consistent with adding answers in Dropdown in text, Drag and drop in text and Drag and drop in columns.
Subscript and superscript support
As in the Edumatic back office, the text editor in the assessmentQ back office now includes buttons for subscript and superscript.
Possibility to duplicate boxes and dropdowns
As an author, you can now quickly duplicate an entry box or a dropdown:
- In Dropdown in text you can duplicate an existing dropdown and quickly update the answers. This is very useful if you want to display the same dropdown several times in an item and change the correct answer for each dropdown.
- In Fill gaps in text or Drag and drop in text, you can duplicate an existing dropdown and quickly update the answers.
Improvements in Edumail
In Edumail, there are several layout changes that increase flexibility and consistency:
- Bold, italic, and underlined in the text in your Multiple Choice question are now also bold, italic, and underlined in your Edumail.
- Images are now displayed below the question in Edumail instead of next to it. This way, layout problems are avoided.
- The look and feel of the multiple-choice question in Edumail and in the assessmentQ player are more consistent to support ease of use.
