About schedules via LTI
When an LTI integration is set up between your assessmentQ environment and your LMS, you can add your assessmentQ assignments to your LMS platform using LTI links.
The process of working with schedules via LTI typically includes the following steps:
- As a scheduler, you create a schedule via LTI:
- You define the delivery settings, including the assignment(s) and the availability period of the schedule.
- You can optionally publish the results.
- You can optionally add a review period.
- As a scheduler, you copy the LTI links to your assignment(s) and paste them in your LMS platform.
- The participants sign in to your LMS platform:
- They click on the LTI link and are automatically authenticated in assessmentQ.
- Depending on the schedule settings, the participants can take their assignments, the results are automatically returned to your LMS and the participants can review their assignments.
In this document, you can find all the information specific to schedules via LTI. For more general information about managing your schedules (such as editing your schedule, publishing the results for a schedule, finishing a schedule, etc.), see Schedules.
Creating a schedule via LTI
Proceed as follows to create an LTI schedule:
- Go to Scheduling > Schedules.
Result: You see the schedule overview page. - Click on + Add at the top right and select the delivery type Via LTI.
Result: The schedule detail page is shown. - Add the title of your schedule in the breadcrumb trail.
- Optionally, add one or more tags to your schedule in the properties pane at the right.
Note: As a scheduler, you can use the tags to filter your schedules in your schedule overview. The tags will not be shown to the participants.
- In the Delivery lane, add the assignment(s) and define the availability period. For more info, see Schedules.
Note: An assignment can only be added when it has the status Approved or Live.
- Optionally define when the results for a schedule can be pushed back to the LMS:
-
Immediately when the participant finishes the assignment:
When a user pushes the Finish button in the assessmentQ player, the session will be finished and the obtained result will be sent back to your LMS immediately. -
At a specific time:
When there are items in the assignment that still require manual grading or if you only want to publish the results later on, you can define in your LTI schedule when to publish your results.
Notes:
- If you don't see the Results lane, it means that the Results setting has not been activated for your assessmentQ environment. Please contact your assessmentQ administrator.
- If your LMS system doesn't accept sending results to your platform, please contact Televic Education via https://support.televic-education.com.
-
Immediately when the participant finishes the assignment:
- Optionally, define a Review period.
- Click on Publish in the top right corner to publish the schedule.
Result: The schedule detail page is shown. An LTI header is added at the top of your schedule page. You can now copy the LTI link to paste it into your LMS platform, see below.
Copying an LTI link
As a scheduler, you can copy the LTI link, so you can make it available on your LMS platform.
Note: For certain LTI integrations, like the integration with eBlox HR, the LTI resource ID must be used instead of the LTI link. Contact your assessmentQ administrator or integrator if you would like to use the LTI IDs instead of the LTI links. More information.
Proceed as follows to copy the LTI link:
- Go to Scheduling > Schedules.
Result: You see your schedule overview page. - Search and/or filter the schedule for which you want to copy the LTI link. More information.
- Select the schedule of your choice.
Result: The schedule detail page is shown. At the top of the page, you see the LTI header with the Copy LTI links button. -
Click the Copy LTI links button.
Result: The Copy LTI link options pop-up appears. - Click the Copy icon next to your assignment.
Result: The LTI link is copied to your clipboard. You can now paste it into your LMS.
Participants opening an LTI link
When you have created an LTI schedule and you have copied the LTI link on your LMS platform, the participants can open the link by clicking on it.
- Participants who start an assignment from your LMS platform are automatically registered and logged on to assessmentQ.
- When the link is used within the availability period of the LTI schedule, the assignment is immediately opened in the player. Exams can be taken only once. Exercises can be taken multiple times.
- Depending on the results settings of the LTI schedule, the results will be returned to the LMS platform.
- In case a review period has been set and the link is used within the review period, the assignment is immediately opened in review mode (provided the participant has finished the assignment).
