Background
Item comments allow authors to collaborate and communicate during the item development process:
- Every author can add a comment to an item, reply to a comment or resolve it.
- Editing or deleting a comment can only be done by the author who created the comment.
All actions related to comments are logged in the item history.
Viewing item comments
To view the comments on an item, proceed as follows:
- Go to Authoring > Items.
Result: You see the folder overview in your item bank. - Search for and navigate to the item of your choice. For more info, see Searching in the item bank.
Result: The item content pane is opened. - Click Comments at the top.
Result: The list of comments on this item is displayed.Note: Only unresolved comments are shown in the comments overview. Comments that have been resolved, are removed from the list of comments but remain available in the item history.
Adding a comment to an item
To add a comment to an item, proceed as follows:
- Open the item comments of the item of your choice. For more info, see Viewing item comments.
- Enter your comment and click Save.
Result: Your comment is added to the list of item comments and your action is logged in the item history.
Editing an item comment
To edit an item comment, proceed as follows:
- Open the item comments of the item of your choice. For more info, see Viewing item comments.
- Click on the three dots next to the item comment of your choice and select Edit.
Note: As an author, you can only edit your own comments. The Edit option is not available for comments that have been added by other authors.
- Change your comment and click Save.
Result: The changes are saved. The Edit action is logged in the item history.
Deleting an item comment
To delete an item comment, proceed as follows:
- Open the item comments of the item of your choice. For more info, see Viewing item comments.
- Click on the three dots next to the item comment of your choice and select Delete.
Note: As an author, you can only delete your own comments. The Delete option is not available for comments that have been added by other authors.
- Click Yes to confirm that you want to delete your comment.
Result: The item comment is removed from the list of comments. The Delete action is logged in the item history.
Replying to an item comment
To reply to an item comment, proceed as follows:
- Open the item comments of the item of your choice. For more info, see Viewing item comments.
- Click on the three dots next to the item comment of your choice and select Reply.
Note: The Reply option is always available. As an author, you can reply to the comments of your colleagues as well as to your own comments.
- Enter your reply and click Save.
Result: The reply is added to the list of comments. The Reply action is logged in the item history.
Resolving an item comment
To resolve an item comment, proceed as follows:
- Open the item comments of the item of your choice. For more info, see Viewing item comments.
- Click on the three dots next to the item comment of your choice and select Resolve.
Note: The Resolve option is always available. As an author, you can resolve the comments of your colleagues as well as your own comments.
- Click Yes to confirm that you want to resolve the comment.
Result: The comment is removed from the list of comments. The Resolve action is logged in the item history.
Note: It is not possible to resolve a reply to a comment. Only the full comment thread
can be resolved.
