- Large background images are automatically resized to 750 pixels wide after upload.
- You can replace the background image at any time.
- Add a gap:
- Click +Gap.
Result: A gap is added in the middle of your background image. On the right of the screen, you see that the Gap tab is opened. - Move the gap to the correct position and resize to the desired size.
- If you want the gap to be transparent, see below.
- If you want to add a line from the gap to a specific position on the background image, see below.
- Click +Gap.
- Add one or more answers to a gap:

- Repeat steps 8 to 9 until you have added all the gaps you need.
Tip: You can duplicate a gap to work faster. A duplicated gap has the same size and the same content as the original gap, including the answers, hints, and advanced options. The lines, however, are not duplicated.
- Click Preview to try out your item.
Making gaps transparent
In case your background image already gives an indication of where the answer should be filled in, you may want to make the gaps transparent.
To make a gap transparent, proceed as follows:
- Open your item and click on the interaction block.
Result: The Block tab is opened. - Select the Make gaps transparent option in Block tab at the right.
Notes: Making gaps transparent is only possible if no lines are added to the gaps.
Adding lines to gaps
To avoid overlapping gaps or to position the gaps in a more convenient way on the background image, it is possible to add lines between a gap and a specific position on the background image.
To add a line to a gap, proceed as follows:
- Open your item and click on the gap of your choice.
Result: The Gap tab is opened. - Click the Line button next to the Gap button at the bottom of the interaction block.
Notes:
- Adding lines to the gaps is only possible if the gaps are not transparent.
- You can define the line end point style (square, circle, arrow, line) in the Block tab.
- You can add a maximum of one line per gap.
- Move the line endpoint to the required position on the background image.
