interpreterQ Hybrid for the Evaluator

Learn how evaluators log in to interpreterQ Hybrid, join a session and monitor student interpretations.

The interpreterQ Hybrid web application

The interpreterQ Hybrid web application is available at https://interpreterq.azurewebsites.net

In order to gain access to the application, the organization will need to create an account for you, to which the role of “evaluator” has been assigned. You will receive an invitation email with a link to confirm your email address, after that you can access your online interpreterQ dashboard. Be aware that the supplied link only remains valid for a limited period of time.

In the login screen of the web application, the button “I have a session code” or “I have an account” allows you to switch between 2 different login methods. Make sure to click “I have an account” and fill in your email address and password.

After a first login, you can click your name in the top right corner to modify your password to something you can easily remember. In case you have forgotten your password, you can always click the “Forgot your password?” link in the login screen to request a password reset. An email will be sent to your registered email address with a link to choose a new password.

After logging in to your account you will see a dashboard containing all upcoming sessions which you can attend:

When a session is about to start, this will be indicated in the dashboard, but you will not be able to join the session until the trainer has actually started that session using interpreterQ in the classroom:

Once the trainer has started the session you will be able to join it by clicking the join button:

Monitoring a hybrid session

After joining a session started by the trainer, you get a large view of the table camera used in the interpreter training classroom (if no conference camera is used, you will see the trainer webcam instead). On the right side of the screen you see a list of participants for the current session, both local participants (located in the booths of the classroom) and remote participants. The sidebar also has a “chat” tab, which you can use to send a text message to the trainer and the other remote participants.

Once the trainer has started an interpreting activity, the speech video will appear on the screen, and you will be able to hear the speech and monitor the student interpretations.

If you are familiar with an interpreterQ training setup in the classroom, you will know that such a setup provides “dual” channel selector units at the conference table, to be used by evaluators. These units allow you to independently choose what you hear in left and right ear, so that you can compare the source speech and the interpretation of a selected student (or compare the interpretations of 2 students). This same functionality is available in the web interface for remote evaluators: two dropdown boxes let you select who to listen to in left and right ear, and 2 volume sliders let you adjust the volume of each side separately.
