Procedure
The procedure describes the necessary steps when replacing a booth PC. In case you reinstall the software on the same PC (for instance after upgrading from Windows10 to Windows11), some steps can be skipped, as mentioned below. More specifically, those steps can be skipped when computer properties (used for licensing) remain unchanged and when MAC address (used for booth PC identification) remain unchanged.
before removing the old PC
- Backup the configuration file for the Avidanet client, located at C:\ProgramData\Televic Education\student\clientcfg.xml
- When changing hardware : deactivate the iQMP license : see https://support.televic-education.com/hc/en-us/articles/15389956806172/
- When keeping hardware, skip step 2 but instead backup the authenticated iQMP license at C:\ProgramData\Televic Education\IQMP\iqmp.lic
after installing the new PC
- Configure the Dante network and the LAN network.
- Install Dante Virtual Soundcard and enter the license (internet connection required)
- Configure Dante Virtual Soundcard : select the Dante network card, make sure WDM is selected as audio interface (not ASIO)
- Make sure "DVS Receive 1-2" and "DVS Transmit 1-2" are selected as default sound input and output device in Windows
- Install the Avidanet client software as a student ( = all installer options on their default value).
- Copy back the configuration file from the old PC to C:\ProgramData\Televic Education\student\clientcfg.xml
- Install iQMP
- When hardware has changed : activate the iQMP license (internet connection required).
- When hardware was not changed : copy the saved iQMP license to C:\ProgramData\Televic Education\IQMP\iqmp.lic
connecting the new booth PC to interpreterQ
In case no hardware was replaced :
As long as the PC MAC addresses did not change, the steps below can be skipped.
In case multiple booth PCs are being replaced :
In order to connect the booth PCs to interpreterQ, launch interpreterQ and go through the "booth initialization" sequence :
- edit the room layout and click "Initialize booth position" in the upper right context menu.
- Enter all booths in correct order and click <ENTER> to accept the position, shown on the screen in large red characters, for each booth.
In case one single booth PC is being replaced :
The full re-initialization of all booths can be avoided by clearing the MAC address of the old PC manually from the interpreterQ layout configuration file as follows :
- Without launching interpreterQ, open C:\ProgramData\Televic Education\ICC\config\layoutdata.xml (make a backup first just in case!)
- find the xml tag <Desk roomID="nnn" posi="nn" ... /> for the correct room and booth number (= "posi"). Within that xml tag clear the value of macaddress, wolmac, and pcname. The tag now shows <Desk ... macaddress="" wolmac="" pcname="" />
- Save the config file and launch interpreterQ.
- Now a green popup will appear on the booth PC screen, which you can click to enter the booth position (the freed up position will be suggested). This will establish the connection of the new PC with interpreterQ.
